Inspirational Adventures Inspired by Movies: From Ambidexterity to Firebreathing

Have you ever challenged yourself to do something audacious after getting inspired by a movie? For me, it started in 2009 when I watched the legendary film 3 Idiots. This movie, alongside its hero Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe (also known as Virus), played a significant role in my journey to become ambidextrous.

From Watching 3 Idiots to Everyday Life

Before 2009, I was left-handed. However, after watching the movie 3 Idiots, I decided to give ambidexterity a try. As fate would have it, Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe in the film was ambidextrous, which motivated me to start practicing and improving my skills.

Thanks to Dr. Viru and my own efforts, I can now perform most of my daily tasks with both hands. Here are some samples of my writing with each hand:

These minor achievements are the coolest things I’ve done based on movie inspiration. Now, let's dive into a more bizarre experiment.

The Firebreathing Adventure

One memorable experience was inspired after watching a scene from the movie Revenge of the Nerds, where the characters performed a firebreathing trick. I decided to give it a try, but needed some preparation as internet research wasn't as prevalent back then.

Since petrol seemed like the easiest way to achieve this, I made sure to do it safely. I enlisted the help of a friend who brought a bottle of water to cool me down in case of any mishaps.

After spraying petrol from a bottle and lighting the stream with a lighter, the result was stunning yet dangerous. The fireball traveled around three meters, setting everything on fire - fortunately, only the brick driveway and ivy-covered fence.

While my friend was busy extinguishing the fence, the flames unexpectedly ignited my face. In panic, I tried to smother the flames with my hands but only exacerbated the situation. I resorted to 'stop, drop, and roll,' which turned out to be ineffective on a brick surface.

As a last resort, I positioned myself for my friend to notice the flames, hoping he would come to my aid with the last of the water. Thankfully, he swiftly put out the fire with what remained of the water.

Amidst the chaos, I was surprisingly unharmed, and I thought I had gotten away with it. However, it turned out that I suffered second-degree burns over most of my face. The adrenaline rush helped mask the pain temporarily, but as it wore off, the area became quite painful.

Over the next couple of weeks, I had to apply makeup to cover my face for school, and eventually, it healed completely. It was quite a memorable experience, but I certainly wouldn't repeat it!

These experiences remind us of the power of movies to inspire us to try new things and face challenges beyond our comfort zones.
