Paris: A City That Speeches to the Soul
For many, the allure of Paris is undeniable. From the bustling streets filled with life to the soft glow of a Parisian night, there is something about the city that speaks to the soul.
Paris - A City of Endless Captivation
Yes, I didn't want to leave Paris because I had to return to work on the following Monday. It's a city that leaves an indelible mark in one's heart. Even during my previous stints, whether for a year of study or a longer period as a writer, I found myself reluctant to part ways with this enchanting city.
However, as a writer, I began to miss the vibrancy and freedom that exists only in America. Despite this, the idea of living between the two countries always appealed to me.
A Tourist's Perspective
I’ve visited Paris multiple times, both as a tourist and now, I can confidently say, there is something unique about the environment. The vibrant colors, the gentle rustle of leaves, the constant hum of cars, metro, and people – it all contributes to an atmosphere unlike any other. The way the sun shines there, and the charged ambiance of the nights are experiences that leave one wanting to explore more. Both times I visited, I found myself reluctant to leave the city.
Personal Reflections and Experiences
My first visit to Paris left a lasting impression. The Parisians were kind and attentive. However, on returning to the United States, I decided to improve my French skills. After my second visit, I found it easier to communicate with the charming inhabitants. This experience reinforced my desire to live in Paris at least for a short period. It might not be perfect for everyone, but it continues to captivate me.
One of my early experiences in Paris, at the age of 12, was less than ideal. My American father, who spoke German but not French, often felt dismissed. My mother, who took high school French courses, once mistakenly ordered "hot milk" at a restaurant and insisted we drink it despite the error. The Mona Lisa proved to be smaller than I had imagined, and during a camping trip, the police were on the lookout for a fugitive near our campsite. However, it wasn’t all negative. During that first visit, my mother purchased three loaves of bread for each of us, a rare indulgence that she never repeated.
A City of Resilient Admiration
After working in Paris for 2-3 years, I made it my home. When I mentioned my plans to return to my country, my Parisian colleagues couldn't comprehend why I would leave such a culturally rich environment. France, like a family, keeps you there despite the challenges and the allure of other destinations.
I was born in Paris, traveled to California, and have visited France many times. The familiarity of the city and its cultural richness make it hard to leave. While I acknowledge the affection and admiration for Paris, I'm not entirely sure I can claim it as my ultimate home. Nevertheless, Paris remains a city that resonates deeply with my soul, a place where I have made lasting memories and where I have found moments of pure joy and human connection.
